“Dark Before Dawn” is the fifth album from American Rock band Breaking Benjamin. It was released this past summer on June 23.
After listening to the album, I was quite impressed. After a few albums, many bands start to fall apart and their iconic sound crumbles into mediocrity.
However, despite nearly all of the band members changing except for lead singer, Benjamin Burnley, the sound that makes BB is still there and continues to captivate fans.
Benjamin, during the band’s hiatus, suffered from an illness as well as dealt with problems with the band. He decided to take the pain and use it as the drive to write the music.
Most of the lyrics were of him going from feeling defeated (which is a song) to overcoming the issues, and the message is well felt through each and every song.
The album is balanced this way, and gives the listener a sense of power and courage to move on.
Even I felt this power to move on early this summer when I was dealing with a variety of problems.
I showed this to my friends and they, too, felt stronger. Even those who weren’t fans of rock enjoyed the album.
“Dark Before Dawn” is an excellent albums to hit the year of 2015, and is highly recommended for anyone who wants either a good rock song, or the motivation to keep going.
