I was hesitant to see 22 Jump Street because of the usual fate that most sequels face -- sure failure.
The movie, of course, tracks Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum’s journey through college to essentially carry out the exact same plot as the first movie, seemingly. However the movie is really a movie about making fun of sequels.
There are numerous references not only to 21 Jump Street, but also to the show. The movie is so self-aware of itself that there is something laughable in every scene.
Although the plot has only progressed one year from high school cliques to college cliques it is uniquely funny in that there is a whole new class of humor, making fun of numerous college stereotypes and allowing the actors to run wild with their jokes.
Hill, as can be expected was hilarious in his role of the overzealous clingy partner, but Tatum plays the obvious idiot so well and has become his own comedic force to be reckoned with. Over all the entire movie was awesome and a must see if comedy is your thing, but leave the young ones at home.
