The Wiregrass Farmers Market is an interesting and enjoyable experience; much different than anything else Tifton has to offer. The Farmers Market features a wide variety of goods and produce, and is guaranteed to have something for everyone.
Last Saturday, the Market included an array of products, ranging from handmade remedies to fresh baked goods. Every table was filled with the hard work of the smiling vendors.
While many would expect simply vegetables and maybe fruit at a standard farmers market, the Wiregrass Farmers Market is much more. Still offering fresh veggies, one vendor was also selling vegetable plants so customers could grow their own. Another vendor specialized in making homemade oils, including oddities like sunflower and almond oil.
A husband and wife team, calling their business 5 Farms, ran one of the most interesting tables. They sold homemade jellies, bath scrubs, and even vegan baked goods. The combination of these products and the hard work put into each of them was a delight and something not seen every often.
Where else in South Georgia are you going to find vegan bakers set up next to a table selling knives with handles made of deer antlers? The Market offers unique products at reasonable prices, an ideal shopping experience for any ABAC student.
The Wiregrass Farmers Market is open every Saturday, April through October from 9 a.m. to noon. It is held at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture behind the Country Store.
