On Tuesday, Feb. 25, 24 of ABAC’s coeds will compete for the 45th Ms. ABAC crown. The women take the stage at 7 p.m. in Howard Auditorium. Admission is $10, but tickets are limited. You can buy your tickets in advance from Ag Business club members, Judy Perry in Ag Science 118 or Audrey Luke-Morgan in Ag Science 111.
The event, themed “Gem of All Ages,” will feature casual and evening wear as well as an essay and interview portion conducted with the judges.
Proceeds raised from Ms. ABAC will benefit the ABAC Scholarship, the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, and ABAC’s 2013 National Agri-Marketing Association Team.
There are currently two former Ms. ABAC’s still on campus; Kristen Ray, 2013 crown winner and Laurel Higginbotham, 2011 winner.
“I couldn’t believe it. I was in a euphoric state,” Higginbotham said. “It was a truly humbling experience.”
Even though her win was nearly two years ago, Laurel still has keepsakes to remind her of the amazing experience.
“Of course, I still have the crown and banner. It’s in a shadowbox in my room at home,” Laurel said. “It reminds me of one of my proudest moments to date.”
Looking back on her year as Ms. ABAC, Laurel had some words of encouragement for the ladies competing now.
“Trust that God is in control and whatever happens, happens for a reason,” Laurel said. “Also as they walk across that stage representing the school, they should remember Gee Haw Whoa Back, Give’em Hell ABAC!”
