"ABAC President David Bridges charged a 13-person committee today to initiate a national search to hire a Chief Technology Officer. The committee, chaired by Mr. Paul Willis, VP for External Affairs and Chief of Staff, was charged with hiring a person who can work with a wide range of people to develop and implement a technology plan that:
• Supports instruction and enhances student learning,
• Supports operational, management and administrative needs,
• Connects ABAC’s community of scholars with people, resources, partners and collaborators around the world, and
• Is secure, reliable, efficient, affordable and nimble.
ABAC’s recently-completed Strategic Plan identified technology as one of the College’s three highest priorities.
Bridges said, “Maintaining a contemporary, reliable and robust technology environment is absolutely essential. If technology is one of ABAC’s top strategic issues, then the College must have someone devoted to strategic leadership in the technology area.”
Bridges added, “Creating, funding and implementing a technology plan that meets the College’s requirements will be challenging. It will require a unique talent – intelligence, experience, creativity, knowledge and the willingness and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.”
Willis said that the committee will begin its work immediately.
