The Electric Sons will be performing at ABAC during the Battle of the Bands to be held Oct. 26. Chances are that you haven’t heard of The Electric Sons. That’s a shame because they are really good.
On their website they write “The Electric Sons are an Atlanta electronic/alternative band founded by, vocalist/guitarist, Andrew Miller and, keyboardist/vocalist, Ben Richards”. In May of 2012, they released their Self-Titled EP.
Within a week of releasing this EP, they were on the cover of "Indie Music Review Magazine" with a five star rating and critical praise. They followed up on this success with two amazing singles, “Breathing Electricity” later that year, and “Keep Young And Carry On” in March of this year. In my opinion, a typical band will release a slew of music and a few of their songs will shine through and propel them into the spotlight.
The Electric sons are not a typical band because all of there music shines through. I discovered The Electric Sons last May when They were the opening band for one of my favorite music festivals, Party In The Park, in Atlanta. I headed over to sound cloud and clicked on the first song on the list “Breathing Electricity” and after hearing it, I was hooked on the band.
I consider this band to sound like a mix between Passion Pit and Grouplove. I encourage you to give them a listen. Their website puts it best when it says “Whether it’s the growl of the fan-favorite track, 'Break Away', or the shimmering luster of the soaring 'Kyoto', listeners of the EP and observers of the band’s live performance agree: The Electric Sons could very well be the first big electronic band to come out of the South.”
