“The fortress we built it is crumbling,” go the lyrics from Alter Bridge’s new album and title track “Fortress.”
Alter Bridge was formed in 2004 with founding members of the band Creed, and now after three years of touring, they are back with a new record. The album is different from previous albums the band has released.
While most of their music keeps a melodic sound, Fortress opens the door for much more experimentation, including heavy riffs and very dark, melancholy lyrics.
“We tried to push ourselves musically,” says Myles Kennedy, the front man for the band. That is just what you will hear when you allow your mind to be opened to a new musical fortress.
After an absence to their American fans, Alter Bridge rocked Disney World’s House of Blues on Oct. 4. Myles, Mark, Scott, and Brian played a sold out show in front of 2,000 people. Fans from all over the world came to Orlando just to witness this rare event.
This was a special appearance for the band because it was Alter Bridge’s only U.S. tour date of the year, and the first one in the last two years. The show was full of energy, with the set list not lacking one bit.
Alter Bridge played a set list that ranged from new songs from the recently released album, to the very first compilation of music the band ever released. Alter Bridge never disappoints, and House of Blues was in no way a change.
