The Fillies took on Oxford College of Emory University in Oxford, on August 29, and blew them out by a score of 8-1
Getting off to a quick start, the Fillies kicked in seven goals in the first half, and led the game by a score of 7-1 at halftime. Giving the defense plenty of cushion for the second half. However, they wouldn’t need it. The Fillie defense shutout Oxford in the second half and was able to put up two more goals.
Katelyn Martin had a stellar game at keeper; recording 14 saves on the day. Nikita Morris, Kaylee Moore, and Jana Hamilton both scored a goal on the day. Jasmine Johnson scored two, and Jodie Corless blasted in three scores for the day.
ABAC traveled to West Point to take on Point University on August 30, where they won a nail biter by a score of 1-0.
Both defenses played tremendously. With no team being able to score until the sixty-ninth minute of the match.
Jasmine Johnson fed the ball to Jodie Corless and she was able to knock it in for the score. The Fillie defense limited Point University to only five shots on goal. Amanda Biondino did a fine job at keeper, and didn’t allow Point to score a single goal.
The Fillies came away victorious in their home opener, beating a shorthanded Andrew College team by a score of 9-0.
Nikita Morris has picked up right where she left off last season, scoring three goals on the day. Jodie Corless, a freshman from England, scored two and had two assists.
Morris has been out for the first few games of the season, and Corless has stepped up in a big way. She has been the leading scorer for the team, knocking in nine goals in four games.
Against Andrew, Katherine Lynch and Caroline Schwab both scored, while Sydney Humphrey scored two.
Andrew came into the game with only 11 players, but a member of the team was injured during pregame. That forced Andrew to play one down, and with no subs for the entire game.
The Fillies are now 4-0 on the season and are red hot. Their next game will be Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 5 p.m, at home against Gordon College. The Fillies host South Georgia on Friday, Sept. 13, at 5 p.m.
Make sure to come out and support the Fillies.
