The Fillies spent the remainder of the first half looking like the lesser team and allowed three more goals. However, ABAC came out in the second half and played inspired soccer.
Using tough, stingy defense, the Fillies allowed only one goal. Coach Jimmy Ballenger said he was pleased with how his girls showed resilience and fought back in the second half.
South Georgia College hosted the Fillies on Oct. 2 and bested ABAC in a nail biter, 1-0. The Fillies played great defense all day and had 10 shots on goal, but couldn’t connect. The winning goal came in the 73rd minute of the game. Unfortunately, the Fillies couldn’t respond.
The Fillies finished their tough three-game gauntlet by facing Georgia Perimeter on Oct. 4, and came away with a 8-0 loss.
Still plagued by an injured midfield, the Fillies had trouble moving the ball on offense, and stopping Georgia Perimeter on defense.
